Brentwood is one of the most wooded municipalities in Middle Tennessee — and that's part of what makes it beautiful. But when you need to clear a sloped backyard for a pool or deck, open up a wooded lot before construction, or reclaim a fence line that's been swallowed by cedar and privet, you want a method that doesn't tear up the landscape in the process. That's exactly what forestry mulching does, and it's the cleanest option for Brentwood's particular mix of terrain and tree species.
Brentwood sits on the same shallow limestone geology as western Williamson County. Many properties — especially in older neighborhoods like Annandale, Governors Club, and the wooded estates along Concord Road — have bedrock close to the surface on sloped terrain. Conventional bulldozer clearing on these lots pulls topsoil off the slope and can expose rock immediately, leaving you with an erosion problem and a bare yard. Our tracked forestry mulchers grind everything — trees up to 18 inches in diameter, stumps, brush, and root mass — into a layer of mulch that stays on the soil surface, holds moisture, suppresses regrowth, and breaks down into organic matter. The ground stays intact; there's no burn pile, no haul-away, and no scarred hillside.
The tree species mix in Brentwood heavily favors Eastern red cedar, native hardwoods (oak, hickory, tulip poplar), and invasive understory like Chinese privet, bush honeysuckle, and Bradford pear. Privet and honeysuckle are particular problems on wooded lots near creek corridors — they spread aggressively and can take over understory in just a few seasons. Our mulchers handle all of these species in a single pass without the need for herbicide pre-treatment.
Brentwood's tree ordinance is one of the more detailed in Williamson County. The city regulates the removal of protected trees (generally hardwoods 6 inches DBH or greater on residential lots) and requires a tree removal permit for significant clearing work within city limits. We're familiar with Brentwood's permitting process and will help you identify what's regulated versus what can be cleared freely during your on-site estimate. We do not pull permits on your behalf, but we'll make sure you know exactly what's needed before we start.
