What's the difference between brush removal and forestry mulching?

Brush removal is the broader service category — it includes any method of clearing unwanted vegetation. Forestry mulching is one specific technique we use within that category: a single-pass process that grinds brush, trees, and stumps into mulch in place. For heavy, dense growth on larger properties, forestry mulching is usually faster and more cost-effective than other methods.

How much does brush removal cost?

Cost depends on brush density, species, lot size, and access. Light fence line clearing on a small lot might run $500–$1,500. Dense multiflora rose or cedar removal on multiple acres can range from $1,500 to $6,000 or more. We provide free on-site estimates — it's the only accurate way to price brush work.

Will the brush grow back after removal?

Some regrowth is normal, especially from aggressive species like multiflora rose and privet. Forestry mulching reduces regrowth compared to simple cutting because it damages root crowns. For full suppression, a follow-up treatment 12–18 months later is usually recommended. Some clients also opt for an herbicide application after clearing, which we can discuss.

Do you remove brush near creeks and water?

Yes, with care. We respect Tennessee's riparian buffer requirements and work to avoid unnecessary soil disturbance near waterways. We'll identify any sensitive areas during the estimate and plan the clearing approach to protect water quality.

Can you clear brush right up to existing buildings or fences?

What do you do with the brush after clearing?

With forestry mulching, debris is ground in place and left as a natural mulch layer — no hauling or burning required. For other removal methods, we can pile brush for the owner to burn (where permitted), chip and spread, or haul off-site for an additional fee.

Multiflora rose is arguably the most problematic invasive shrub in Middle Tennessee. Our forestry mulchers grind it down to the root crown, significantly reducing regrowth compared to surface-only cutting. For best results on multiflora rose, a follow-up treatment 12 to 18 months later knocks back any regrowth before it can re-establish.

Eastern red cedar is another major brush issue across Middle Tennessee's pastureland. Cedars that have grown too large for brush hogging need a different approach — our tracked mulchers can handle stems up to 6 to 8 inches in diameter, turning them into ground mulch without leaving stumps or creating debris piles that need burning. This is especially important in agricultural areas where burning restrictions or dry conditions make open burning impractical.
