The gravity-fed system for qualifying Tennessee properties — no pump, no electricity. Currently serving Maury County and Rutherford County.
A conventional gravity septic system is the simplest, most cost-effective septic solution available — and the right choice for any property with qualifying soil. Wastewater flows from the home into a buried septic tank, where solids settle and biological treatment begins. The clarified liquid then flows by gravity through perforated pipes into a drain field, where it filters into the soil.
No pump. No controls. No electricity. When soil conditions allow, a properly designed conventional system will operate reliably for decades with minimal maintenance. Back 40 Land Services currently installs conventional systems in Maury County and Rutherford County.
Qualification is determined by a soil morphology evaluation and percolation test conducted by a TDEC-licensed evaluator. Your site typically qualifies for a conventional system if:
If your site doesn't qualify, a Low Pressure Pipe (LPP) system is the typical next step. Read our full comparison: Conventional vs. LPP — which system do you need?
Soil Evaluation
A TDEC-licensed evaluator digs test pits and performs a perc test to confirm your site qualifies for gravity drainage.
